Fishes respond to handling as stress, that is through
harvesting, collecting, stocking, selection, packing, transportation, etc, and the
suppresses the immune system which may leave the fish less capable of fighting pathogens,
loss of appetite may result etc. A frequent sign of poor handling practices in fish is
subsequent infection.
Knowing these, we adopted a preventive
measure to reduce such stress by having good control of our farm hygiene and sanitation,
good water quality management, good nutritional management, proper control and treatment
of fish diseases.
